   Chugach State Park

   Two thousand square kilometres of mountain immediately east of Anchorage, and one of the largest state parks in the United States. Moose and black bears come down into the suburbs from it; Flattop Mountain at its edge is the most-climbed peak in Alaska.

   Cathedral of the Holy Family

   A church in downtown Anchorage which served as the cathedral of the archdiocese of Anchorage from its creation in 1966 until 2020. As the city grew it became too small for the great liturgies, and Our Lady of Guadalupe was raised to co-cathedral in 2014.

   Alaska Zoo

   A zoo opened at Anchorage in 1969. It is known for keeping Arctic animals and takes in injured wildlife for care.

   Glenn Highway

   A trunk road running northeast from Anchorage. It is the main link between the city and the interior and is designated a scenic route, running past glaciers and mountains.

   Alaska Botanical Garden

   A botanical garden laid out in Anchorage in 1986, holding plants that grow in the subarctic climate, with a trail through the native forest running from it.
