   Nelson's Dockyard

   The only working Georgian naval dockyard left anywhere, in English Harbour, built to careen ships in a hurricane hole. Nelson commanded here from 1784 to 1787 and disliked every month of it. The stone buildings are now a marina and hotel, and it became World Heritage in 2016.

   Museum of Antigua and Barbuda

   The national museum in the Court House of 1747, the oldest building still in use in St John's. Arawak finds and colonial objects fill the rooms, along with Viv Richards's cricket bat, while locomotives from the old sugar railway stand outside.

   St. John's Cathedral

   The white twin-towered Anglican cathedral above St John's, built in 1845 on a fossil reef after earthquakes in 1683 and 1745 brought down its predecessors. The figures of St John the Divine and St John the Baptist on its south gates were taken from a French ship in 1756.

   The Catholic cathedral in St John's in Antigua and Barbuda. It is the seat of the diocese of St John's-Basseterre, which covers five jurisdictions across the Caribbean.

   Fort James

   A battery on the headland at the mouth of St John's harbour, begun in 1706 against the fear of French attack and largely built in 1739. By 1773 it mounted 36 guns and barracked 75 men; a powder magazine, some cannon and the wall footings remain.

   A museum at Nelson's Dockyard in English Harbour on Antigua. It opened in 1997; the dockyard itself goes back to 1725 and is the only Georgian dockyard in the world in continuous operation.

   A museum at Ordnance Bay in English Harbour on Antigua. It was built in 1804 for the naval commissioner of the island and used mainly to receive guests; it forms part of the World Heritage site of Antigua Naval Dockyard.
