Bozeman is a university town in a mountain valley and the northern approach to Yellowstone, ninety minutes away by the Gardiner gate — the only entrance open to cars all winter.

The Museum of the Rockies holds one of the largest collections of dinosaur fossils in America, much of it dug from Montana. Big Sky skis a huge acreage in winter; the rivers here are fly-fishing country in summer.

    A late Gothic Revival church on Babcock Street in Bozeman, built between 1908 and 1910 in local stone and listed on the National Register since 1989.

    Fort Ellis

    A United States Army post established on 27 August 1867 east of present-day Bozeman in Montana. Troops from it took part in several campaigns of the Indian wars, and it closed on 2 August 1886.
