Entebbe sits on a peninsula in Lake Victoria and is where Uganda begins for most visitors, forty kilometres from Kampala and quieter than it.

Bwindi's forest, a day's drive southwest, holds roughly half the world's mountain gorillas and permits are limited. Murchison Falls forces the whole Nile through a gap seven metres wide. Jinja runs the rafting.

    Rubaga Cathedral

    The cathedral of the Kampala archdiocese, the oldest Catholic diocese in Uganda, standing on one of the city's hills. The White Fathers established the mission here in 1879, and the bones of the first African bishop lie in the crypt.

    Munyonyo Martyrs Shrine

    A Catholic shrine and minor basilica on the lake shore at Munyonyo, where the kabaka ordered the first killings of Christian converts in 1886. It was consecrated in 2015, shortly before a papal visit.

    St. Mary's Stadium-Kitende

    A football stadium at Kitende on the Entebbe road, home of Vipers SC and one of the few grounds in Uganda built to continental standards. It seats around twenty thousand.
