   A museum at Juneau in Alaska. Founded in 1900, it has gathered the natural and human history of Alaska ever since, and reopened in 2016 in a new building costing 139 million dollars.

   Thane

   A ribbon of some sixty houses strung five miles along a single dead-end road south of Juneau, named for Bartlett Thane of the Alaska-Gastineau Mining Company. The line from the Snettisham hydro plant runs through it, and avalanches cut the power often enough that the utility keeps diesels on standby.
