Livingstone is the Zambian side of Victoria Falls, where the Zambezi drops a hundred metres along a front nearly two kilometres wide and throws spray high enough to be seen from far off — hence the local name, the smoke that thunders.

When the water drops between August and December, a rock lip lets swimmers sit at the very edge in the Devil's Pool. Sunset cruises, microlights and a rail bridge of 1905 into Zimbabwe complete the picture.

Victoria Falls National Park
The Zimbabwean park protecting the south and east bank of the Zambezi at the falls. The spray keeps a patch of rainforest permanently wet on this side, so the path along the rim runs through dripping fig and ebony with the gorge on one hand.

Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park
The Zambian national park at Victoria Falls, holding half of the falls along with a stretch of the Zambezi above them and a small game section. It shares World Heritage listing with the Zimbabwean park opposite.

Railway Museum
A museum at Livingstone preserving the locomotives and records of Zambia's railways, built to move copper to the coast. It also keeps an exhibition on the country's Jewish community, which ran much of the early trade.
