   Church of Cristo Obrero y Nuestra Señora de Lourdes

   A church at Atlántida by Eladio Dieste, finished in 1960, whose walls and roof are built of thin brick in double-curved surfaces with almost no concrete — a technique he invented and which no one has matched. World Heritage since 2021.

   Buceo

   A coastal barrio east of Pocitos, named for the salvage diving carried out on a Spanish ship wrecked offshore in 1752. Its small harbour shelters the yacht club, while the World Trade Center towers and the Montevideo Shopping centre stand inland.

   A district near the old town of Montevideo. It took shape in the nineteenth century as housing for dock workers and is named after an early mayor of the city.

   A coastal district at the eastern end of Montevideo. It is known for the clifftop promenade above the point where the Río de la Plata meets the sea, and expensive houses are concentrated in it.

   A Montevideo barrio that Francisco Piria laid out and auctioned off in 1926, and which its residents still call Barrio Piria after him. The house of his old estancia survives among the streets, now holding the institute for the blind.

   Malvín

   A coastal barrio on the Rio de la Plata between Buceo and Punta Gorda, which grew as a bathing resort around 1900 and settled afterwards into a residential quarter. Its name comes from Juan Balbin Gonzalez Vallejo, who held the land.
