Page was thrown up in 1957 to house the men building the Glen Canyon Dam, and stayed on as the base for Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend.

Antelope Canyon is a slot in sandstone entered only with Navajo guides, at its best around midday when shafts of light drop in. Horseshoe Bend has the Colorado curving three hundred metres below an unfenced rim. Lake Powell supplies the houseboats.
