   Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help

   The cathedral of the Rapid City diocese, completed in 1962 and the third to hold that role. Stone-faced with a tall tower, it stands in the middle of a city that exists as the gateway to the Black Hills.

   Reptile Gardens

   A reptile zoo on Highway 16 between Rapid City and Mount Rushmore. Guinness World Records certified it as the largest reptile zoo in the world in 2014 and again in 2018.

   Dinosaur Park

   Seven concrete dinosaurs on a hill above the city, built by the Works Progress Administration and dedicated on 22 May 1936 to catch the traffic heading for Mount Rushmore, then still unfinished. Emmet Sullivan modelled them; entry is free and the park joined the National Register in 1990.

   Chapel in the Hills

   A copy of the Borgund stave church in Norway, built in 1969 to Harold Spitznagel's drawings as the home of a Lutheran radio ministry. Dark pine, carved dragon heads and a log cabin museum stand together in a wooded draw outside town.

   Church of the Immaculate Conception

   A former building at Rapid City in South Dakota. It was built as a parish church and became the cathedral of the diocese of Rapid City when the see moved to the city; it is now called the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception.
