   John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art

   The state art museum of Florida, built by the circus owner John Ringling around a courtyard of casts, and holding one of the largest groups of Rubens cartoons anywhere. He left it and his Venetian Gothic house to the state on his death in 1936.

   Mote Marine Laboratory

   An independent non-profit marine research institution on City Island in Sarasota in Florida. Eugenie Clark founded it in 1955; it was called the Cape Haze Marine Laboratory until 1967, and it works on marine science, education and conservation.

   A garden of fifteen acres at 900 South Palm Avenue in Sarasota in Florida. It stands on the former estate of Marie and William Selby and is a Smithsonian affiliate, holding one of the great epiphyte collections.
