   Maho Beach

   A beach on the Dutch side of Saint Martin directly under the approach to Princess Juliana airport, where arriving aircraft pass a few metres overhead. Standing behind departing jets is dangerous and has killed; the fence signs mean it.

   Fort Amsterdam

   A Dutch fort on the headland by Philipsburg, built in 1631 and the first the Netherlands raised in the Caribbean. Spain took it two years later and it changed hands repeatedly; the walls and cannon remain.
