   Cordillera de Chichas

   A mountain region in the Potosí department of Bolivia. Together with the Cordillera de Lípez it forms the southern stretch of Bolivia's central range, and it splits into an eastern and a western branch.

   Río Grande de Lipez

   An endorheic river of the southern Bolivian altiplano, 153 kilometres long, formed where the Salado meets the Guadalupe and draining north towards the Salar de Uyuni. Flamingos feed in the lagoons along its course.

   Uyuni Railway Scrap Yard

   A field of rusting steam locomotives and carriages on the salt flat outside Uyuni, left where they stopped when the mining lines wound down in the 1940s. Most were British-built and hauled ore towards the Pacific ports; the salt wind has stripped them to skeletons.
