   Van Abbemuseum

   Opened in 1936 on a cigar manufacturer's endowment, and one of the first public museums of contemporary art in Europe. It is strong on Lissitzky and Beuys, and it hangs its collection argumentatively — labels that question the museum's own history are part of the programme.

   Achel Abbey

   A Trappist abbey on the Belgian border east of Eindhoven. It was founded in 1686 and is one of the few houses in the world brewing Trappist beer.

   Evoluon

   A disc-shaped exhibition hall built at Eindhoven in 1966. Philips raised it as a science exhibition centre, and its form, read as an emblem of the future city, made it the landmark of the town.

   Vesteda Tower

   A residential tower built in Eindhoven in 2006. At ninety-six metres it is among the tallest buildings in the city and was the first project of the redevelopment of the centre.
