   St. Joseph Cathedral, Groningen

   The cathedral of the diocese of Groningen-Leeuwarden. It was built in neo-Gothic in the middle of the nineteenth century by Pierre Cuypers's teacher, and shows what Dutch Catholic building became once the church was legalised again.

   Martinikerk

   The oldest church in Groningen, named along with its tower for Saint Martin of Tours, patron of the bishopric of Utrecht to which the city belonged. The present Gothic building grew from the 13th century onward, and the Martinitoren beside it reached 96 metres in 1482.

    Noorderplantsoen
