   Bodø Cathedral

   Consecrated in 1956 to replace the church destroyed when German aircraft flattened Bodø in 1940. The bell tower stands apart from the nave, and the glass and the woven altar tapestry are good examples of Nordic church art of the reconstruction years.

   HMS Effingham

   One of five Hawkins-class heavy cruisers ordered by the Royal Navy during the First World War. Work continued slowly after the war and she was completed in 1925, then sent to the East Indies station where she served as flagship.

   Norwegian Aviation Museum

   Norway's national aviation museum, opened by King Harald V in May 1994 and laid out in plan like a propeller. At ten thousand square metres it is the largest in the Nordic countries, and its exhibits include a U-2 spy plane.

    Prinsesse Ragnhild

    A Hurtigruten liner of 1931 that blew up off the island of Landegode on 23 October 1940, shortly after leaving Bodo. Of the 455 people aboard, 299 died, and the cause of the explosion has never been settled.
