   Erligang culture

   A Bronze Age urban culture of about 1600 to 1400 BC, and probably an early Shang capital. Its rammed-earth wall at Zhengzhou runs some seven kilometres around and still stands ten metres high in places, with modern streets running along the top of it.

   Zhongyuan Tower

   A tower of 268 metres at Zhengzhou, 388 metres to the top of its antenna. It combines broadcasting with tourism, trade, performance and catering.

   Henan Museum

   A museum of history and archaeology at Zhengzhou, holding more than 130,000 objects across every period. It covers natural history as well, with dinosaur bones and fossils alongside the human record.

   Zhengzhou Shang City Site

   A Bronze Age site of the Erligang culture at Zhengzhou in Henan. It divides into four phases running from about 1630 to 1400 BC, and is among the oldest and most important sites for understanding the Shang dynasty.

   Zhengzhou Museum

   The city museum of Zhengzhou, founded in 1957 and now split between two buildings, the one on South Songshan Road opened in 1998 and a much larger hall added in 2021. Its holdings run past 60,000 items, strongest in bronzes from the Shang city that lies beneath the modern one.

   Dahecun

   A Yangshao village site northeast of Zhengzhou, dug from 1972 and occupied across some three thousand years. Its painted pottery carries sun, moon and star designs among the earliest astronomical marks in China, and house walls survive a metre high.

   People's Park Zhengzhou

   A park west of Erqi Road in central Zhengzhou in Henan. It was laid out in 1951 and opened on 1 August 1952.

   Xiaoshuangqiao Site

   A Shang dynasty site northwest of Zhengzhou, settled in the middle Shang after the great walled city was abandoned and taken by some scholars for the capital named Ao. Bronze foundry waste, sacrificial pits and pottery brushed with vermilion characters have come out of the ground here.
