   Han tombs of the second century BC, opened in the 1970s. The body of Lady Dai came out with skin still elastic and blood in the veins, the best-preserved ancient corpse ever found; the silk manuscripts buried with the family include the earliest known text of the Daodejing.

   Young Mao Zedong Statue

   A granite head thirty-two metres high on Orange Isle in the Xiang river, finished in 2009, showing Mao at the age of thirty-two, when he was a student in Changsha. It is carved from some eight thousand blocks of Fujian granite.
