   Saint Dominic's Cathedral

   The Catholic cathedral of Fuzhou, on the Min river in Cangshan, rebuilt in the 1930s after the treaty-port church that preceded it. It serves the diocese and is one of the larger churches in Fujian.

   Yongquan Temple

   A Buddhist temple founded at Gushan outside Fuzhou in 908. It holds more than twenty thousand woodblocks of scripture and a Qing-dynasty white pagoda, which make it the leading temple of Fujian.

   Xichan Temple

   A Buddhist temple founded at Fuzhou in 867. It has collapsed and been rebuilt several times, and keeps a lotus pond in its garden and a Qing-dynasty pagoda.

   A Buddhist temple founded at Fuzhou in 964. The timber structure of its main hall is early Song, which makes it the oldest wooden building in southern China.

   Flower Lane Church

   A Methodist church founded in 1864 and rebuilt in 1938 to the design of Lin Jixi, a Fuzhou architect trained by the mission and then in America. Closed through the Cultural Revolution, it reopened on 28 October 1979, the first Protestant church in the city to do so.

   An Anglican cathedral built at Fuzhou in 1927. A British mission raised it, and it was the centre of the Anglican diocese in southern China.

   St. John's Church, Fuzhou

   An Anglican church in Cangshan, paid for by Fuzhou's British residents from 1858 and finished in 1860 in Gothic style. Known locally as the Stone House Church, it was listed for protection in 1992 but stands derelict, its 320 square metres given over to a printing works.
