   Haibao Pagoda Temple

   A Buddhist temple in Yinchuan whose brick pagoda, rebuilt in 1771 after an earthquake, rises in eleven storeys with a stepped cruciform plan found almost nowhere else in China. Tradition dates the original to the fifth century, under the Xia king Helian Bobo.

   Pagoda of Chengtian Temple

   An eleven-storey brick pagoda on an old temple site at Yinchuan in Ningxia. Its name means the pagoda that holds up the sky; it was first raised under the Western Xia, and the present structure is Qing, at 64.5 metres the tallest in Ningxia.

   A museum in the Jinfeng district of Yinchuan in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region of China.

   Chinese destroyer Yinchuan

   One of the Type 051 destroyers built for the Chinese navy in the 1970s and named after the city. The class was the first large surface warship designed and built in China, and this ship has since been retired.

   Haibao Pagoda

   A nine-storey brick pagoda north of Yinchuan, said to stand on foundations laid in the 5th century for the Xia ruler Helian Bobo. An earthquake in 1739 brought it down and it was rebuilt in 1771; its cross-shaped tiers are unlike any other pagoda in China.

   Nanguan Mosque

   The largest mosque in Yinchuan, rebuilt in 1981 with five green domes over a prayer hall that holds a thousand worshippers. Its arcades and minarets follow Middle Eastern rather than Chinese models.
