   Kirkenes Church

   The parish church of Kirkenes, built in 1959 to replace the one destroyed when the town was bombed some three hundred times in the war and then burnt by the retreating German army. Almost nothing here predates 1945.

   Saints Boris and Gleb Church (Borisoglebsky)

   A Russian Orthodox church on the far bank of the Pasvik at Borisoglebsky, on the site where the monk Trifon founded a chapel for the Skolt Sami in 1565. It stands within sight of the Norwegian side, a few hundred metres from the frontier.

   Russermonumentet

   A bronze Red Army soldier on a granite plinth above the town, unveiled in 1952 to the Soviet troops who drove the Germans out of eastern Finnmark in October 1944. Wreaths are laid here each year on the anniversary of the liberation.

   Holmengrå

   A small fishing village at Sør-Varanger in Finnmark in Norway. It lies on the flat ground along the Holmengråfjord, an arm of the Varangerfjord, with the 265-metre Holmengråfjell rising to the west.
