   Reed Flute Cave

   A limestone cave whose formations are lit in hard colours — the effect is theatrical rather than natural, and unapologetic. Inscriptions on the walls in ink go back to the Tang, so it has been a visitor attraction for something over a thousand years.

   Sun and Moon Pagodas

   Twin pagodas on Shan Lake, first raised under the Tang and rebuilt in 2001 from the records. The Sun Pagoda is faced in bronze, nine storeys and 41 metres tall — the tallest bronze pagoda anywhere and one of the few with a lift; the Moon Pagoda beside it is seven storeys of glazed tile.

   Zengpiyan

   A Neolithic cave on the flank of Dushan hill, occupied between about 10,000 and 5000 BC and among the earliest sites anywhere for pottery and the keeping of pigs. Found in 1969 and dug from 1973, its main chamber of some 220 square metres faces southwest towards the Li river.

   Seven-Star Cave

   A large limestone cave in Seven Star Park at Guilin in Guangxi. Karst peaks arranged like the Plough gave it its name, and visits to it are recorded from the Tang dynasty thirteen hundred years ago.

   Jingjiang Princes' City

   The former palace of the Ming princes of Jingjiang at Guilin in Guangxi. Guangxi Normal University now occupies it, and it is open as a tourist site.

   Guilin Christian Church

   A church on Zhongshan Middle Road in the Xiufeng district of Guilin in Guangxi. It was built in 1912 as the Guilin Baptist church and now houses the city's Three-Self Patriotic Movement committee and Christian council.
