Los Cabos is where the Baja peninsula ends and the desert runs into the sea. The arch of rock at Land's End marks the meeting of the Pacific and the Gulf of California.

Cabo San Lucas does the nightlife and San José del Cabo the galleries and quiet. Humpbacks pass between December and April. Todos Santos, an hour north, is an artists' town with a surf beach.

    Misión Estero de las Palmas de San José del Cabo Añuití

    A Jesuit mission founded in 1730 by Nicolás Tamaral in the Pericú settlement of Añuití, the southernmost on the Baja California peninsula. It stands near the cape that Spanish navigators and English privateers frequented for nearly two centuries.

    A natural history museum opened in the middle of Cabo San Lucas in Baja California Sur in 2006. It displays the history of the region and the skeletons of its native animals.
