Ixtapa Zihuatanejo travel guide
Mexico · Top sights · trending spots
Ixtapa was built as a planned resort in the 1970s; Zihuatanejo next door is the fishing town it was built beside, and has kept its bay, its boats and its pace.
Zihuatanejo is also the town Andy Dufresne names at the end of The Shawshank Redemption, which brings a certain kind of visitor. Las Gatas is snorkelled, sailfish are fished offshore, and the Pacific here stays warm all winter.
