   Cat Ba National Park

   A national park on Cat Ba island south of Ha Long Bay, declared in 1986 and a biosphere reserve. It holds the Cat Ba langur, found nowhere else and down to fewer than a hundred animals, and joined the World Heritage listing in 2023.

   Hai Phòng Cathedral

   Yên Tử Mountain

   A range spanning Quang Ninh and Hai Phong, its highest peak 1,068 metres. King Tran Nhan Tong abdicated to become a monk here in the thirteenth century and founded the Truc Lam school; the mountain is dotted with temples and stupa gardens and is Vietnamese Buddhism's home ground.

   A Confucian temple in Hai Duong province, the largest in the north after Hanoi's, where the region's scholars were examined. French shelling wrecked it in 1948 and it has been rebuilt with state funding.

   Sacred Heart Cathedral of Thái Bình

   The cathedral of the diocese of Thai Binh, at 8 Tran Hung Dao Street in Thai Binh, Vietnam. Built in Gothic style in 1906, it was dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on 17 August 1908.

   A monument on Titov Island in Quang Ninh province, Vietnam. Russian-Vietnamese friendship associations raised it together in 2015, for the 80th anniversary of cosmonaut Gherman Titov's birth.

   Dragon's Run

   A steel roller coaster built by the Swiss firm Bolliger and Mabillard, which opened in South Carolina in 2008 at a park that closed after a single season, and was later shipped to Ha Long and reassembled.

   Hòn Gai Church

   A Catholic church in Bach Dang ward, Ha Long, Quang Ninh province, Vietnam. First built on Bai Tho mountain in 1933, it was destroyed by American bombing in 1967.

    Citadel of Hai Duong

    An earth-walled citadel raised in 1804 as the seat of the Nguyen administration for Hai Duong province. French forces demolished most of it in 1889, but traces of the ramparts survive in the Thanh Dong quarter.
