Nadi is the way into Fiji, three hundred and thirty islands of which about a third are lived on. Boats leave Port Denarau each morning for the Mamanuca and Yasawa chains.

The resorts range from backpacker dorms to private islands, all within a few hours by catamaran. Cloud 9 is a bar moored on the reef. Everyone says bula, constantly, and appears to mean it.

    Churchill Park

    A stadium at Lautoka used for football and for the Fijian Drua rugby side, and the main sporting venue of Fiji's second city. Cane trucks pass the gates during the crushing season.

    Mount Koroyanitu

    A peak of 1,195 metres in the Evans range behind Lautoka, the third highest in Fiji, whose Fijian name means the village of the devil. A heritage park on its slopes is run by the surrounding villages, who guide the walks and provide the beds.

    A stadium at Nadi holding about eighteen thousand, used for rugby and football and for the largest public gatherings on this side of Viti Levu. It was renamed for the king after his accession.

    A Sunni mosque in Nadroga-Navosa province on Viti Levu, serving one of the Muslim communities descended from the indentured labourers brought from India between 1879 and 1916.

    The main mosque of Lautoka in western Fiji, serving a substantial Muslim population in the sugar districts, where most Indo-Fijians settled after their indentures ended.
