Rangiroa Airport travel guide

Rangiroa is among the largest atolls in the world — the lagoon inside its coral ring is bigger than the island of Tahiti, and from one side you cannot see the other.

Two passes, Tiputa and Avatoru, let the tide in and out, and the current through them carries drift divers past sharks and dolphins. There is a pink sand beach at the far end and, improbably, a winery on the atoll.
