   Our Lady of Tinos

   The greatest Marian pilgrimage site in Greece, on the island of Tinos. It was built around a miraculous icon found after the Virgin appeared to the nun Pelagia and told her where it lay; pilgrims climb the hill to it on their knees each August.

   Ftelia

   A late Neolithic settlement on the bay of Panormos, dated by radiocarbon to between 5000 and 4500 BC and belonging to the Saliagos culture. House foundations, pottery, stone figurines and traces of metalworking have come out of the ground here.

   Paraportiani

   A church in the Kastro quarter of Chora on Mykonos in Greece. Its name means Our Lady of the Side Gate; work began in 1425 and was only finished in the seventeenth century, five chapels having been merged into one whitewashed mass.

   A museum near the old harbour on Mykonos in Greece. It was built in 1902 to hold the finds from the graves on the neighbouring island of Rheneia, and holds Cycladic, Geometric and Classical pottery, burial urns and sculpture.

   Aegean Maritime Museum

   A maritime museum on Mykonos in Greece. Georgios Drakopoulos founded it in 1983 and opened it to the public in 1985 in a nineteenth-century building in the Tria Pigadia quarter of the town.
