Can Tho is the capital of the Mekong Delta, where the roads matter less than the water. The Cai Rang market works from before dawn, boat to boat, each trader hanging a sample of what they sell from a pole.

    A port of the Funan kingdom in the Mekong delta, occupied from the second century BC. Roman coins, Indian seals and Persian glass have come out of it, and some scholars identify it with the Kattigara that Ptolemy placed at the edge of the known world.

    The cathedral of Long Xuyen in the Mekong delta, consecrated in 1974 for a diocese created in 1960. A statue of the Virgin stands on its front below a tower of fifty-five metres.

    A multi-purpose stadium in the Ninh Kiều district of Cần Thơ in Vietnam. It holds over thirty thousand, which makes it one of the largest in the country, and is used for football and motorcycle racing.
