Vinh is the main city of Nghe An province and rebuilt itself entirely after the American bombing; there is little old left standing.

Kim Lien village outside it is where Ho Chi Minh grew up, and the thatched family house is preserved as a national site. Cua Lo has the beach and Pu Mat the forest. Most travellers pass through rather than stop.

    Vinh Stadium

    A municipal ground of 12,000 seats, home to Song Lam Nghe An, one of the oldest clubs in Vietnamese football and long known for its youth academy. Hong Linh Ha Tinh has shared the pitch since 2025.

    Assumption Cathedral, Xã Đoài

    The cathedral of the Vinh diocese at Xa Doai, seat of one of the oldest Catholic communities in Vietnam. The present church, plainly Gothic with twin towers, dates from the 19th century and serves a parish of long standing.

    Kim Liên museum

    The thatched house at Kim Lien where Ho Chi Minh spent his childhood, kept as a museum, two kilometres from the house where he was actually born. Both are national pilgrimage sites.
