Sorong travel guide

Sorong is the port for Raja Ampat, a scatter of limestone islands off Papua that holds the highest coral diversity on earth — roughly three quarters of all known species live in this one archipelago.

Boats cross to Waisai and from there to homestays and liveaboards. Piaynemo's viewpoint over the mushroom islands is the photograph; manta cleaning stations are the dive. Visitors pay a conservation levy that funds patrols and village shares.
