   Mrigadayavan Palace

   A summer palace of Rama VI built in 1923 on the shore at Cha-am, raised on more than a thousand teak piles with open corridors over a kilometre long to let the sea breeze through. It is the least ornamented of the Thai royal palaces.

   Rajabhakti Park

   A themed park honouring the kings of Thailand from the Sukhothai period to the present Chakri dynasty. The Thai army built it on its own land at a cost of about a billion baht raised from public and private sources.

   Wat Huai Mongkhon

   A temple outside Hua Hin holding the largest image of Luang Phor Thuad in the world, a seated figure some twelve metres high on a wide open platform. Pilgrims come for the monk's reputation for protecting travellers.

   Church of the Holy Royal Martyrs Hua Hin

   A Russian Orthodox church built in the 2010s for the Russian community on the gulf coast, dedicated to the last tsar and his family. Blue and white walls and a single onion dome stand among the palms behind the beach.
