   Khao Laem Ya – Mu Ko Samet National Park

   A marine national park off the coast at Rayong, protecting the beaches of Ko Samet and the headland opposite. It is the closest island national park to Bangkok, which is both its appeal and its problem.

   Phra Chedi Klang Nam

   A Buddhist stupa standing in the middle of the mouth of the Rayong river in Rayong province in Thailand. It lies about two kilometres from the centre of Rayong and can be reached daily from six in the morning.

   Wat Pa Pradu

   A temple in the middle of Rayong holding a reclining Buddha nearly twelve metres long, lying on its left side rather than its right, a posture found in very few temples in Thailand.

   Wat Lum Mahachai Chumphon

   A temple by the river where King Taksin camped in 1767 with the men he led out of the fall of Ayutthaya. The tamarind he is said to have tethered his elephant to still stands in the grounds, propped and railed.

   Wat Ban Khai

   A temple in Ban Khai district east of Rayong town, registered as a historic site of Thailand. Its old wooden hall and boundary stones stand among later buildings in the village compound.
