Caticlan is the closer of Boracay's two airports — a ten-minute boat crossing rather than a bus and then a boat, which saves an hour each way.

White Beach runs four kilometres of powder sand down the west side, with the shops and bars behind it. Puka Shell Beach in the north is emptier, and Diniwid takes the sunset from its rocks.

    Northwest Panay Peninsula Natural Park

    A natural park of a hundred and twenty square kilometres across the northwest peninsula of Panay, declared in 2002. It holds the largest remaining lowland forest on the island, with Visayan warty pigs and hornbills that live nowhere else.

    Bakhawan Eco-Park

    Two hundred and twenty hectares of mangrove at Kalibo, planted from the 1990s by a local association to hold the shoreline. A bamboo walkway runs more than a kilometre into it, which fills a half day either side of Boracay.

    The cathedral of Kalibo and the centre of the Ati-Atihan festival, when the town spends three days in January drumming through the streets with faces blackened, carrying the Santo Niño.
